Adobe Photoshop elements will not load it says there is a bad or corrupt styles folder?
I have changed the styles folder as recommended but no luck. I have also tried the trial version 4 and it says the same thing
This might happen if the folder is missing. Make sure it’s therre, and that it’s not hidden.
How did you learn photoshop?
Lessons. school. on the job, self taught et cetera.
How did you find it? How long before you felt you had a handle on it?
Many thanks.
I appreciate Mere Mortal’s mention of my online tutorial. Here’s the address:
http://www.jimsdigitaldiary.com/photoshop.html
But please note: It’s a very basic intro to PS for photographers.
How did I learn? Self taught for a couple of years before I took every course I could find at the local college. Then I was invited to teach it at the University – which I did for four years.
After that, continuing to learn, I began teaching to private seminars and individual students.
In other words, I’ve learned what I know by teaching … and – MOST IMPORTANT! – by doing!
I read the current literature. I discuss various processes with other photographers. And I do both photo restorations and custom imaging professionally.
I never expect to learn even half of what can be done with Photoshop. But that’s okay. I don’t need to. I only need to understand the basic premises as they apply to photography (since I have no interest in graphic design or photo manipulation), know the tools … and practice, practice, practice.

Does anybody knows how to make a blend using Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2?
I barely had it today but I don’t know how to make a blend. If you could help me how to make a blend step by step or just give me a tutorial site, I’ll choose your answer as a a Best Answer!
In my tutorials I teach it this way…..
Use your selection tool
Set the Feather to eg 25 (try diff setting till you find what your happy with)
Draw out your selection around one of the images you want to blend. Copy and Paste into your working image(background)
Do the same with other images you want to blend.
This gives that soft ‘feathery’ look to the images.
You can then use the Blend Mode on the layer pallette to help blend the images into the background eg ……Use the Hard Light option.

Create Pumpkin Carving Pattern from Photograph, Photoshop & Illustrator
Jack-O-Lattern carving is a tradition around Halloween, since I was making my own patterns again this year I thought I would share my method – this is a more advanced tutorial and due to time restraints I can’t show too much detail. This tutorial shows you how to take a photograph and process it in Adobe Illustrator to get big black blocks of pattern. After getting this rough pattern – copy and paste it into Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop use the magic wand tool to select areas and fill them in with dark black – carefully edit any rough spots using the magic lasso selection tool to get straight edges as needed. Finally set the print options to gain a full sized pumpkin carving pattern.
