in photoshop elements I can’t use layer styles?

I have that version of photoshop and it just lets me apple or remove effects but doesn’t let me apply layer styles it is grey and unclickable.

Styles’ real name is "layer styles" they can usually only be applied to layers or selections. In other words, you have to have a layer below the one you want to apply the style to. Some of them, like Bevels, can be applied to the whole photo. You’ll also have a hard time applying them to the Background layer. It’s got a little lock on it because it’s the original photo and most people don’t want to mess up the original. First, try duplicating the layer: Layer>New>Layer From Background before working on it. In the Layers Palette, click on the copy (the top one) to highlight it before trying to apply a style to it.

This little tutorial points out something important: You can apply styles to text, to shapes, to anything sitting on another layer.

If you have windows vista then:
Right click the font you want to install and select install this font. Now open up photoshop, it should show up there.

If you have XP:
Copy the Font you wish to install and paste it in : C:/Windows/Fonts

Now open up photoshop and bam, there you go, your font is installed!

How can I make a logo in PHotoshop styled like the Photoshop logo with my own two letters?

Similar to the logo found here:
http://www.photoshopcafe.com/cs3/images/PSCS3_beta_Presentation_FINAL-30.png

I know its not a copyright as I have seen many other personal logos like it. Im looking mabye to be painted to a tutorial that would help me with it. Thanks!

1. Create a new document with the size you want (e.g. 256×256 px).
2. Go to Layer->New fill layer->Gradient.
3. Choose radial style, check the "dither" box, set size to 150%, and with the dialogue still open, drag the gradient a bit up and left. Click on the gradient to choose your colors (e.g. two similar blues, with the lightest one for the highlight). You can change this later by double-clicking the layer. Ok
4. Select the text tool (t) and click in the middle of your picture. Choose a large font size and make the text white. Use a "sans-serif" font of your choice (like Arial). Do whatever you need to make it look good. You can edit the text again at any time by clicking it with the text too.

Additional:

If you want to add a small bevel you can add the layer style called "Bevel and Emboss". Adjust the settings to your liking (i recommend chiseled hard, with a small size. Then tweak the highlight and shadow color/strength).

If you wan to add a shadow you will have to make your canvas larger (or button smaller). Either way, add a mask (make a square selection by holding down shift when selecting) to your gradient layer (so it doesn’t fill your canvas), and add the layer style called "Drop shadow".

anyone that can teach photoshop on private lessons?

wanted person that could teach two of us photo shop .1 or 2 days.if so could you contact with your hours and cost

Photoshop is a very robust program. People spend years learning to exploit it’s capabilities. 1 or 2 days may be enough to give you some general knowledge but it’s certainly not long enough for you to become proficient in the program’s use.
Do you have a specific goal in mind?
What version of Photoshop do you want to learn?
Is it safe to assume you’d want online training?

How do i save a font i customized in photoshop cs4?

You know when you change the character of a font in photoshop?
How do i save it like that so i can use it in other programs?

please and thanks =]

I don’t think Photoshop can alter font files, unless it’s something new they added.

Normally, you need a font design program. I don’t know of any good free ones, but I’ve used FontCreator, which has a 30-day trial.

If you’re going to alter an existing font, make sure you save it as a copy!

Are there any guides/Tutorials on using Photo shop Elements 6?

I just got Photo shop, and I really want to get into it because I want to edit my pictures and use them as desktops and stuff. So I was wondering if there were any guides on like all the tools and stuff!

Layers | Photoshop Crash Course Lessons | Video Training

This lesson is one of the several layers lessons from my new Photoshop Training DVD and explains what Layers are, the interface, what they can do for you, and how to manipulate some of their features. The most important thing about this video is it teaches you the concepts of Layers, or stacking them much like pancakes. If you can get that, you are well on your way to understanding Photoshop. The Entire video has over 6 and a half hours of lessons for beginners and can be found from this link: http://www.michaelthementor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=8
