I managed to install a font in control panel/fonts It appears in the "font-list" in word, but not in Photoshop. I have also tried adding it by drag and dropping it into the folder c:/windows/common files/adobe/fonts. Nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

All fonts for programs are looked for in the Windows FONTS folder unless they install a specialized folder for the program only.

Install new fonts on your computer:

Windows XP -

1) To install a new font, download the desired font, and save it on your computer.
2) Click the Start menu, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Fonts, go to the File menu, and then click Install New Font.
3) Navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded or unzipped font (double-click to unzip a file).
4) In the List of Fonts box, click the font that you want to add, and then click OK.

Windows Vista -

1) Open Fonts: Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click
Appearance and Personalization, and then click Fonts.
2) Click File, and then click Install New Font.
3) If you don’t see the File menu, press ALT.
4) In the Add Fonts dialog box, under Drives, click the drive where the font that you want to install is located.
5) Under Folders, double-click the folder containing the fonts that you want to add.
6) Under List of fonts, click the font that you want to add, and then click Install.

Tip: if you don’t want to fully install the font, you can double click on the .ttf file on your desktop – Windows font viewer will open up. Keep the viewer open and launch a program like Word or Photoshop. The font will be available for you to use during that session.

-If you want an easier way to add fonts, go in C: drive/windows/fonts then add your font in there.

I learned this technique from a web site and the good folks at gomediazine.com. I am just using photoshop and they are using illustrator and photoshop. They have this tutorial but you have to read it. There is a lot you can do with this technique. I had to edit this because it went a little long. if you have any question please message me back.

I have Vista and I’m trying to figure out where do I go to place the fonts I downloaded so I can use them in my Photoshop CS2.

vector fonts are going to drive me insane. i’ve no idea how to even use them let alone use it in photoshop. can any one help?

You don’t use a vector font in photoshop.
Photoshop is a raster program, meaning bitmap or pixels.You can adjust the font size, colour, width, height etc but it isn’t ever a vector.

Read the help files. Look for the Text tool and Font options.

theres this font that ppl use alot on their photos and i dont know what its called. its a girly font and it looks sooo cool. can anyone plz tell me what its called?

I am editing some scans in Photoshop. I was told to use Mighty Zeo font, and to make sure the type was in 9 pixels, not point. (She very specifically said not point…). However I cannot find the option anywhere to change the font by pixel size.
And when I enter nine pixels as the size in the font box.. It’s Tiny, so I’m not sure that’s what I need to do.

Any advice?

I’ve never seen any way to work with a font in pixels – just points.

Maybe you made a typo, but you said you could enter pixels. Did you mean you entered 9 points, not pixels?

Anyhow, it sounds like a really odd request. But you could create the text, set your Info palette to show dimensions in pixels and scale the text until it shows it is 9 pixels high.

9 pixels would probably be even tinier than 9 point type, depending on the size of the image.

Perhaps something is messed up in the instructions or there are some more details you need to share here to make sense of this.

I have this logo that is written in a font that is unknown to me. I wanna use this exact font to write a word underneath it..is there anyway in photoshop to do that?

Photoshop can’t do it by itself, but there are ways to identify the font in the logo.

http://www.whatthefont.com will let you upload the image of the logo, and identify what font it’s written in.

If that doesn’t work, you can also try http://www.identifont.com/, which will ask you a series of questions about how the font looks, and make it’s best guess based on your answers.

Bear in mind though, that some logos – especially those for big corporations – are hand-designed, and not created from any particular font.
