I operate on CS3 Extended, I am on a mac and I use leopard. I got the font from dafont.com

Im a beginner.

hurm… im not sure bout mac… but in windows we put fonts in the Fonts folder. go to the program files and go to fonts. put all your fonts inside there and refresh your photoshop…

Step 1:
You first have to find the fonts online to download. Dafont and Fonts 500 are two great resources for free fonts. Almost all the fonts you’ll find are in the TrueType (TTF) format, which Apple created in the ’80s and is used widely on both Macs and PCs to this day.

Step 2:
It’s a good thing I’m not paid by the word, because Apple has made this far too easy. Double click on the .ttf file and Font Book will pop open and ask you to install it. One more click and you’re done! The font will now appear in the fonts window in every program you use. On a PC you would need to restart programs like Photoshop to see the new fonts, but not in OS X, they should be instantly available.

after that… just restart your photoshop… and the fonts will appear…

This is a very easy effect to do, I use it a lot on my grunge designs for many different elements. Give it a shot and try it out with other elements other then fonts, you will be greatly pleased at your result.

Well I’m editing pictures and I want to put words on the picture to. Without downloading a font which font already on photoshop is areally good one to use? and i want one thats really bold. theres to many and i dont want to go through all of them.

My favourite font ever is Century Gothic.
And yes, I would advise going on www.dafont.com and downloading some really interesting brushes. The standard set isn’t bad, just not as varied.

Do you have an Apple or a Windows? They both have different fonts available.

I use the current version of photoshop casually. I’m trying to make a banner for a friend and can only use some of the fonts that photoshop says it provides. I’ll go down the list and some work but others just give me ???? instead of letters when I type. I checked my windows fonts folder and all the fonts that are included in the photoshop fonts drop down box are there. I’m unsure what else to do since all the fonts are loaded to my computer.

I am not pasting them. I just simply cannot use them. I have not tried to add any fonts to my computer. I’m trying to use fonts that came with the program. I highlight the font within photoshop, click the picture I want to add some words to, then type the word but instead of the word, I only get a bunch of questions marks like so: ????.

If all else fails, try reinstalling photoshop. I find that cures a lot of problems. Good luck.

I downloaded a Brooklyn kid font and i was just wondering how do i use it on photoshop (adobe) because it doesnt appear on the font list

You need to either download them and add them to your computer’s list of fonts, or have the downloaded file (should be like a notepad file that says something like "The brown fox runs.." in the font you’re using). I don’t know about other systems, but if you have windows, go to

C: drive
WINDOWS
Fonts

and then save your font file/paste it in that folder. Most fonts come zipped, so if you don’t have an unzipper, you might need to download one.

Hi. I bought a font online, already have the compressed folder but how do i save it in photoshop? which folder? Thnaks.

Hi,

You can copy the compressed folder you download and paste it to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts, the font will be installed in your computer automatically, then you can choose the new font in Photoshop or other programs like MS Word, Excel and so on.

A friend made an image for me, and I’m trying to figure out what font it is. I have photoshop but don’t know how to use it. When i have an image opened in photoshop, how do i find out what font they created the image with? Thanks!

If you have the layers, click on the text with the text tool active and look up at the toolbar. Otherwise, you can try an automated font recognition service, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Failing that, you could ask your friend

Drag the font file into Control Panel\Fonts, and you should get the font to appear on your font list across all the programs in your computer.
