Most likely as it is a black and white picture the colour mode is grayscale so even if you try and select a colour it still displays as gray. Go to Image>Mode and select a colour mode such as RGB or CMYK, now you will be able to add colour to your text.

Check if you are using Gray on the RGB profiles. If not, unlock the layer and try again.

I use Camtasia 5 to make videos it captures whatever is no the screen. A webcam can also be added for other applications, but who wants to see my face mugging the camera. HOOT!

Hello Again Danny!
I can tell you how to do it in PS CS3 since that is what I use. In the main workspace go to Edit>Preset Manager>Patterns>Load.
Navigate to where the new patterns you wish to install are loacated on your computer to load. They will load when you press DONE in the Preset Manager.

The process is the same for brushes, styles, gradients etc.
