Create Pumpkin Carving Pattern from Photograph, Photoshop & Illustrator

Jack-O-Lattern carving is a tradition around Halloween, since I was making my own patterns again this year I thought I would share my method – this is a more advanced tutorial and due to time restraints I can’t show too much detail. This tutorial shows you how to take a photograph and process it in Adobe Illustrator to get big black blocks of pattern. After getting this rough pattern – copy and paste it into Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop use the magic wand tool to select areas and fill them in with dark black – carefully edit any rough spots using the magic lasso selection tool to get straight edges as needed. Finally set the print options to gain a full sized pumpkin carving pattern.
